Hi Everyone
Start with Royal Mail as a Postie next week. Induction Monday, start role Tuesday.
Have tried filtering through the message board to try and establish what I need to wear when starting Tuesday - do I wear normal, plain, clothes until some uniform arrives, or am I presented some uniform at my induction/first day on the job? Yet to receive my contract so unsure what it states regarding this.
Sorry if this has been mentioned on another thread
thanks

No uniform at Induction.
Casual but weather suitable clothes for delivery work, you'll be given a Hi-Vis jacket to identify you as a postie.
Recommended Clothing.
Waterproof jacket, trousers.
Waterproof shoes/trainers with decent ankle support (you'll be walking for 9 miles or more)
Light clothing on top but wear layers to warm up or cool down.
Cargo Trousers rather than jeans. (jeans are not flexible enough for delivery).

I have lightweight hiking boots, which are Gore Tex. Will this do the job do you think? Do people generally wear hiking boots? I may have a look on eBay for a second hand Berghaus before I splurge.

Boots even the lightweight ones are okay, but you'll be walking faster than normal people and if they don't have some flexibility it'll be like wearing diving boots at the end of the round.
Most people wear trainers.

That's good. I guess my Salomon trainers will do the job nicely then, if people generally wear trainers.

Hiking trousers, waterproof with pockets - jacket to match. I already had these though so didn't need to splash out before I got my uniform.
