It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

:Applause I hope that helps to clarify the point. Judging from the questions, on some of the other posts on this forum, there's still a lot of people who are still confused.

I think that we should all bear in mind that these strike days are not just a "Free Holiday", (we're not getting paid for them for a start). We may be needed to man an Official Picket line at our Delivery Office. Any Ideas about when we might receive instructions concerning this type of thing?

Also I'd spare a thought for the some of the Part-Timers, who may be losing a larger percentage of their salary than most of us. Thanks for your support guys! :Applause

If it starts before 11am - No
If it starts after 11am - Yes

11 am both days is the trigger. If you are due to work before the strike you should finish your shift. If you are due to start your shift between the 2 times then you can strike. If you are due to start after 11 am on Saturday then you work as normal.

So if your SA is after 11am on Saturday - Work it. Otherwise, Strike.

I think it is necessary for the Union to communicate to the members, stressing that if the strike action does go ahead, that the mail on the subsequent Mon, & thereafter is likely to be strike mail, & asking members to therefore refrain from doing ot to clear the backlog on these particular days, as those that do ot in my office anyway, seem to think just because they are not actual strike days, it is therefore acceptable to do as much ot as is available to them to clear the office of this backlogged mail.

I can see that happening in a lot of Delivery Offices Dazz.I was chatting to a relatively new member today explaining that she shouldn't feel pressured to take everything out just to clear the backlog. A lot of newer Posties will have no experience of this type of thing.

I foresee the same group of posties that ALWAYS ignore strike days coming in as usual. :thumbdown They'll probably spend the two days throwing off as many walks in the Office as they can (with Mech that's easy). Then the Management will be hoping that the mail won't back up too much, giving them a fighting chance to clear it on Monday/Tuesday without needing loads of overtime. :hmmmm

I always find it a rather charged atmosphere returning to work, following a strike, when you know certain people came into work. :no no Of course Management choose to Manage this particular situation , and are always very quick to point out that there should be no name calling etc. :cuppa

afaik mail can only fail once so once the strike is over any new mail entering the system will be done first and any "strike mail" only getting done if there's any time after the new mail is processed/delivered
