CV when?

After many months of waiting a vacancy has come up at my local SO for postman/driver (walking distance

), but I'm going to be away in a couple of days and returning only one day before the interviews!

Does the online application/test need my CV to be processed? I read 'Royal Mail's recruitment process timings' but it does not specify, and I think I read somewhere that a 5 year work history is required only after interview ..(?)

My education and qualifications/grades are at hand, but the rest of my CV needs a major rethink for RM as I'm coming in from a very different field, and it's a few years out of date!

Guess I could just jump in there and find out for myself but worried I might mess-up and get timed-out or something ..

I would have thought that, after "many months of waiting", your CV would have been bang up to date! Just saying.

I know I know ... but stuff happens ... or not as the case may be! Been putting it off because can't for the life of me decide how to tailor it for RM .. plus I've not really used a traditional CV for the type of freelance/self-employed work I've done previously.

If I could pass the online application/test, it would give me a massive confidence boost to tackle that dreaded CV ...

Highlight instances of work that required you to be a part of a team but also being able to work on your own (think
working as part of a team of posties sorting deliveries in a delivery office but then going out on your own
to do your own delivery).

If you get to an interview have several examples of instances where you had to change a normal routine
piece of work to accommodate a change of plan (think of a postie having to change their normal delivery route
to achieve a/multiple Special Deliveries by 1pm).

Working as a freelance/self employed I would think you've got plenty of examples/scenarios that fit the above.

A belated thanks yellowbelly for the great tips! Missed your response initially because was away until now. I did actually apply in-time and my status has been 'testing complete' since then. Interviews were meant to be tomorrow but not heard anything either-way (and have checked junk mail folders). Might pop-in to local SO in question to see what's-up, though it seems from these boards that supposed interview dates can shift for weeks/months ... ?

EDIT: Just occured to me ... seeing as not heard if I've got an interview yet, any point in modifying my online CV for this application, or will it only be considered for future applications?
