'Delivering mail in the order it was received...'

Post by Trends Guild »

This is what RM are stating on their website.

Strangely enough, the only mail I have received in the past week as been TNT, UK Mail and Special Deliveries.

Is this a coincidence? lol

Seriously, I did wonder if RM have to pay penalties to TNT etc if they don't fulfil their contract on time - I know this was the case in a certain print industry where the company had to pay massive fines to the customer (a large daily newspaper) if the product was not ready as agreed.

some cynics might say that this mail has no date on the outside of the letter it is impossible to tell when it was posted so therefore indicating that mail is up to date, or as you say cowtailing to it's so called competitors.

Thanks for that, and I apologise for being hot-headed when I arrived here. I was in desperation at the time.
As it is I've managed to get a week's long-needed paint-stripping and painting done instead. :Applause

I have read between the lines - I never take anything at face value |(especially not the media in this country), which was my reason for coming here, to get at the truth. What I have found (apart from determining what is RM/BBC propaganda) is a bunch of people who still have a decent vein of humanity, to be prepared to give up everything to support one another so strongly and preserve a traditional and essential public service, while all those around you struggle up the greasy pole and are prepared to sell their grannies to get an inch higher.
I'm glad I came because I thought such sentiments were long dead.

I hope you manage to reach a settlement to your satisfaction, and I thank you all for trying so hard to defend an essential public service.

NB - the public definitely would not like it if they thought that their mail was taking longer due to RM prioritising big business contracts...certainly it would garner more support for postal workers!

I was curious about this myself.

I seem to be receiving mail that was posted a week ago (including yes, some TNT stuff) but I still haven't received 1st class post that was sent to me during the 1st and 2nd weeks of October (quite a few items outstanding, not just the odd one).

So whats the inside story from you lads and lasses in the know?

The Post Office website tells us its being delivered in the order it was received, but I am seeing anything but that.

Rog mate... I hope you mail comes thru as quickly as poss.. But now with the backlogs WHO KNOWS..???>

Now with the TNT = DSA i know RM have a time limit that every item has to be delivered... Same for 1ST and 2ND class Mail.... YOU WOULD LIKE TO THINK!!

Ive seen willfull delay from RM in many aspects... This WILLFULL DELAY is a sackable offence for a POSTIE... But inj my opinion RM screws do this all the time and push work out when it suits .. IE.. 2nd class Undated and Mailshot and TNT Business post Before 1st class.... in myopinion it happends all the time.. But now... As i said before.... WHO KNOWS...???? RM are a law unto themselves!!!

They make the rules for the POSTIE then dont work to them self same rules and BULLSHITE US the reasons why.. IE.. operational Needs.... And Mind your own business... Thats how they treat us and your mail...... IN MY OPINION....

OUT :wave

YEsterday I was deliverying mail until 11:40 when I stopped and went back to the office, taking 2 bags with me.

The mail that I was delivering was mainly business mail, dhl, tnt, uk mail etc. The Royal MAil 1st and 2nd class that I did have was mainly from the last week, although I noticed one letter dated 28th September. After seeing this I then saw a lot of 1st class dated between 8th and 20th October. I delivered one packet that was dated 2nd October.

A few times this week, guys in our office have been told by management to finish the letters they had in their hand and start bagging up, even though we still have 2 trays of letters and all our flats and packet bags to do.

So, we've been going out, coming back on time and the next day you start to prep yesterdays mail and when you start todays mail, management come over and tell you bag up and get out again. It's a continuous cycle.

Tomorrow, I'll be posting a photo indicating the backlog we have. Several frames have 15+ trays of backlog that just cannot be cleared. Add the 47 yorks ( x 20 trays each) of mailsort outside IN THE CARPARK and we are a 55 walk office. ( management were sending mailsort back to the MC to be walksorted so they could put it on our frames rather than get some guys or casuals to come and sort it).

So, in our office, mail IS NOT BEING DELIVERED IN THE ORDER IT CAME. For the most part, it isn't being delivered full stop. With the volumes and cut offs, it's every house, every other day.

The packet situation is appalling.

I had 2 packets (not parcels) sent to me 1st class, one recorded and one not on the 5th and 8th of October. No sign of them yet, nor of any letters from the following week.

Yet today I received a 2nd class letter from the other end of the country that was only posted on Friday.

It may be the strike by workers that got the post office into this mess, but it appears the resultant mess if being very badly managed. Surely some management heads should be rolling over this.

The Post Office website still claims all mail is being delivered in the order it was received

Bradford

Post by majeed »

Well, it sees as though Bradford has got it's act in order because all of my mail seems to have come in good time; there was a few days delay for an Eid card from within the local, general hospital, but other than that my phone bill and bank statement seemed to come exactly on time: I don't seem to have noticed any delays or precedence problems - even D2D came on time for the recycling bin! Anybody else know any different for Bradford?

This is the backlog at some of our frames today at 6:15 am. This mail should have been out on Saturday. Notice the pile of packet bags to the frame on the right in the frame on the back wall.

Management told these posties to finish thier current trays and get out. The guy on the back wall went out with his entire walk in 1 bag, despite protesting. The guy on the right frame is throwing 4 or 5 trays up before being told to bag and go. for every 4 trays done, 5 more turn up, usually walk sorted mailsort.
