Contract......when?

Post by 49erman »

Hey all, new postie just about to start in about 10 days but still no contract! 25 hours per week - not sure what days I’m working? Every Saturday? What Saturdays I’m off? What days I’m off? Is there overtime? Do i finish at 2:30 daily (my finish time)? What pay I’m on? What hols I’m entitled to? All feels very disorganised to me! Surely a company this big should be better organised?

I started 5 months ago and got my contract the day before I started. You're right about it being unorganised - it is!

Don't worry about contract, some have received contract after starting, I got mine a few days before. Days off depends on how it works in your office, you won't know which days off you have until you know which duty your coverin, each duty has its own day off. In our office it's a rolling day off, so 1 in 6 Saturdays off. If it says 2:30 on your contract you can finish at 2:30 or work overtime to complete your delivery. You most probably will go over 2:30 in your first few weeks/months, so either claim it or cut off at your finish time. Make sure to let your manager know you'll be going over in the morning though. You probably won't be offered regular overtime until your up to speed. First 6 months is currently £10.12 ph including delivery supplement, after 6 months it's £10.65 ph including supplement & after 1 year it's £11.18 ph including supplement. Your entitled to 22.5 days Holiday which again increases but not until your 5 years in I think. Make sure to let your manager know your holidays as soon as possible as they have to honour any holidays you have already booked.

Hope this answers your questions and yes it is a very disorganised company.
