PostNL introduces the new delivery option ‘Delivery by appointment’ today. With this, the consumer can directly determine when their online order is to be delivered by PostNL, at the moment they purchase it.

Research shows that an important consumer wish is to have an influence on the time of delivery when shopping online. De Bijenkorf is the first retailer to offer this PostNL service in its online shop.

‘Delivery by appointment’

If consumers can choose the delivery time themselves, this increases the chance of them making their purchase in an online shop in preference to a physical shop.

Using the delivery option ‘Delivery by appointment’, the consumer chooses the day and two-hour time slot during which PostNL will deliver the parcel. This service offers everyone the opportunity to plan for themselves when they will receive their parcel.

Pieter Heij, Director Omnichannel De Bijenkorf: “Delivery by appointment perfectly suits the premium service we want to offer our customers. Customers now have a wide choice of delivery options, from standard free delivery and next-day delivery to evening and Sunday delivery, and now also delivery by appointment. We’re happy to be able to expand our service in collaboration with PostNL.”

Expansion of delivery options
‘Delivery by appointment’ is the next step in offering consumers greater convenience. With this, PostNL further expands the number of delivery options available.
The company already delivers seven days per week, in the evenings and on the same day.

After making an online purchase, consumers have also recently become able to change the delivery time or delivery location themselves, using the PostNL app and Track & Trace. Furthermore, consumers can pick up or send parcels at 2,800 PostNL locations.

The company is also testing the neighbourhood Parcel and letter machine, which is suitable for sending and receiving parcels. By removing the logistics obstacles for consumers, PostNL stimulates the online shopping market.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

But at what price do they get a "two-hour time slot"?
