I don't think it is as simple as that. As I say, I priced up the same car last year (changed my mind but still had the figures jotted down) and even signing up now, the price isn't significantly more. This link suggests the change might only be about £6 a month in realitynickbsmooth wrote:Prices will be same but it'll be taken from you're pay post tax not pre tax,so works out quite a bit extra
If you joined the scheme prior to the 1st of April ,then you'll reap the tax relief for the duration of the contract.
I think the govt were stupid to remove this perk as it affects those who would benefit the most, the hard working low paid.

All well and good so long as you have a good 4-8k laying about for a decent motor..or even a couple of grand for a deposit then having to pay interest...2pints wrote:Just buy a second hand car and look after it.Much cheaper.
This scheme gets you a brand new custom built car, insurance and all maintenance for a relatively affordable price (depending on what you go for...)
Remains to be seen what they charge at the end of the lease to keep it but i'll probably just get a new lease in 4 years time...been unlucky with second hand cars in the past

What happends after the contrat has finished. Do your wages automaically go back up or will they reduce your hours. I dont like the name salary scarifce. It sounds dodgey

Would assume the deductions just stop...I think it's named as a salary sacrifice so they don't tax you on itTop33mag wrote:What happends after the contrat has finished. Do your wages automaically go back up or will they reduce your hours. I dont like the name salary scarifce. It sounds dodgey
Also keep in mind if we end up striking if you don't have enough wages to cover the payment they take it all out when we're back at work so you'll be looking at 2 weeks payments in one...just food for thought :)

Decided against it in the end and it was a massive ball ache to cancel. Took about 3 phone calls and dozens of emails before they even responded.

Surprised you was allowed to cancel, thought once the order was placed that was it...guess it depends on if your build had started or not.LouBarlow wrote:Decided against it in the end and it was a massive ball ache to cancel. Took about 3 phone calls and dozens of emails before they even responded.

It probably helped that they put the estimated delivery at mid-November. Considering I ordered in June, that's some wait.Justanotherstar wrote:Surprised you was allowed to cancel, thought once the order was placed that was it...guess it depends on if your build had started or not.LouBarlow wrote:Decided against it in the end and it was a massive ball ache to cancel. Salary sacrifice is a big gain in tax cut's for the employer at your own financial sacrifice of your wage packet just how this affects if you leave or go on the sick and reduced pay no one knows I will keep my shity old car thanks!

Not really, but your financial contribution to the UK "pot" is reduced as you're paying less tax."k979aaa"]Salary sacrifice is a big gain in tax cut's for the employer at your own financial sacrifice of your wage packet
Bit of a moral issue if you don't agree with "austerity" and budget cuts...

it might take a few days to recognise that you're eligible to have the car benefit...

Can you have a named driver on this too?
Me and the wife have a car on it's last legs that we share and this appeals to me but would need to be a shared car really.

I have a car on lease, not through this scheme, and yes as long as the drivers are named you can have more than 1 driver.

Thanks for the response.
One other question that I can't seem to find the answer too.
But what happens if you leave the business during the contract?
Does the car get taken back?
Is the contract between you and the zenith so it carries on?
If it does get taken back ate you liable to pay anything extra?
Not planning on leaving but always best to know
