Postal worker injured by trap Florida man set to snare mail-stealing neighbors: report

A Florida man who suspected neighbors were stealing his mail set up a mousetrap in his mailbox — but the victim of his plot ended up being the mail carrier.

Postal worker Cynthia Humphreys-Smith, 37, got her hand snared in Nicholas Dibble's trap earlier this month in suburban Bradenton, The Smoking Gun reported.

Dibble "had planned to make the mail carrier aware of the trap but she came a different route and time," according to an incident report by the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

Dibble, 63, a former Publix meat cutter, had previously called law enforcement about "the drug dealer across the street" and a woman who runs a "house of prostitution next door," according to The Smoking Gun.

Humphreys-Smith declined to press charges and Dibble wasn't arrested. However, the U.S. Postal Service will no longer deliver mail to his residence.
