Implications on mail after the UK's exit from the EU

Hiya all,

In the grand scheme of things, not the worst problem - but very much the principle of "something clearly went wrong"...

Two postcards sent first-class from Inverness delivery office on Thursday 1st June, didn't arrive until the following Wednesday & Friday - is it at all possible these got treated as second-class in error?

I've lodged a claim for delay, purely on the principle that these two cards might as well have gone by second-class, and they were posted at the RM site in Inverness and not a remote postbox. And 8 days is just very annoying.

I know there are some funnies with how long-distance mail from the Highlands and Islands is handled, and it's generally pretty good.

Probably not treated as 2nd class in error - but for the week prior to the General Election mail levels were beyond Christmas levels with nearly every house on every delivery in the country getting an unaddressed or addressed leaflet on a daily basis. So while it's not an excuse, it just that they have probably been slowed down by the volume of mail for that particular week.

Ps done nearly 14 years now and that week was easily the worst I have seen.

Did they have proper addresses with postcodes? Or did you write down addresses from memory e.g. Tom & Barbara, Acacia Avenue, Village, Nearest Town, County Name. Were the cards slightly dogeared on arrival? This is a sign they have been shuttled back n forth between the mail centre and various postal towns.

Sorry for the late reply to very helpful answers.

Both were fully addressed with postcodes, one was to BS35 the other BS14. I've not seen the BS14 one, but BS35 was in a good condition when it arrived.

The surname on one of them was partly covered by the stamp, but that was about it. Interesting about the volumes in the network that week, possibly an explanation but still feel a little hacked off, so I'll see if the customer complaint I've put it gets anywhere. I won't hold too much breath, but if you don't ask...
