First Day and Uniform Help.

Hi Guys.

I'm only new to the forum so I appreciate this question may have already been answered.

I've been given a start week for the first week of April.

My contract arrived this week but I have some concerns regarding how ordering uniform works,

My role is delivery with driving and the form states I have to wait 13 weeks before being eligible to uniform.

From reading the forum, some people seem to have got uniform pretty quickly and after joining.

Is it normal to have to wait this period before ordering and if so what 'uniform' per say is best to wear for the role?

Any help will be appreciated.

Firstly welcome to RM !

User name = Payroll number ( check your contract)

Password = Delivery (Capital D)

You will be able to order basic uniform in the first instance T shirt trousers etc. Do it this week and it should be waiting for you on your first day. Wear comfy clothes and shoes until it arrives dark colours no obvious logos.

I went through this last week and was told you can only order high vis and shoes for 6 weeks then after that you can order full uniform.

Phone them up and they'll take your order for fleece, shirts and trousers. They'll also change your status online for you to order them yourself in future. They must have you marked as temporary on their system. Uniform Ordering number is 08007315137 they close at half 5 mon to fri. You'll need your sizes and payroll number.
Stormproof jacket & Trousers, Cagoule, hats and belt can be ordered from 6 weeks+.

P.s. If the cat trainers are on your Catalogue page and you want them, you'll have to order them before you phone up as once they updated my status they disappeared, might be because I'm in Scotland though. (Apparently they can be slippy when it's wet).

Like the original poster, I am also starting soon. Thanks for the link, I have just followed it. My Catalogue only shows hi-vis vests and a small selection of boots (no YDS trainers). There are no trousers, shirts, etc on it. I will order my uniform by phone after my first day. Just a shame to have to spend money on trousers, shoes and top before I even start earning.

I started last Friday, and I phoned through for my uniform.
Everything arrived today - shirts, polos, fleece, high-vis, two trousers, belt & Anvil trainers.

The trainers are going back - way too narrow for my feet
The high-vis is going back - a tent
The polos are going back - 4" longer then the shirts - my daughter thought it was a dress!

Am scouring for info on whether YDS trainers or Magnum shoes are suitable for wider feet...

I went through all the shoes the YDS are great only problem with them they wear away really quick last pair I had lasted only 6 weeks. The worse shoes are the Anvils they are bad for your feet. Best shoes are the cats or magnums

I got a pair of Merrell Moabs low-Rise Hiking Shoes:

Went up a half-size from Merrell's sizing. Right out of the box they were instantly comfy, with no toe crush.
Suitably understated in black. The super grippy Vibram sole unit is excellent and gives some extra height, too.
Width is good. I reckon the shoe last will suit those with a square or rounded forefoot.
A nicely-padded upper, but thankfully not too stiff.
Enough arch support, and I can barely register any heel impact. A good rolling gait is easy to achieve.

I used them at work for the first time today, with no foot squeeze, tiredness or stiffness.
Judging by the ease with which these shoes tackled the pavements of my round, they'll do nicely.
