Project 20 Plus

During the National Organising Briefing held in Birmingham on 24th November 2016, we outlined the work required in relation to Project 20 Plus. At the Briefing, it was made clear that this was a priority for the Department in 2017 and a key part of the Postal Executive’s wider Organising and Recruitment strategy set out in the document attached (Appendix 1).

Project 20 Plus has been designed to bring into membership the 20,000 plus non-members in Royal Mail Group. As a starting point, we have targeted all workplaces who have 20 or more non-members. These initial locations have been allocated to the correct Branches, Divisions and Regions. Working with the respective Field Organiser and Regional Secretary, Branches will be supported to undertake local organising and recruitment activity along with delivering some ‘quick wins’.

To promote and publicise the project, the Postal Field Organisers have addressed business-based meetings to discuss how best they can work with Branches and Regional/Divisional Officials in order to deliver the project and meet our initial recruitment targets. The Senior Field Organiser has also met with the Regional Parcel Organisers to discuss how the project will be delivered in Parcelforce.

To support the project and meet the Postal Executive’s requirement for more regular and transparent reporting arrangements, we have also developed a standard reporting template to assist Branches, Divisional Representatives, Regional Parcel Organisers, Regional Secretaries, Postal Executive Members and Field Organisers.

 
A copy of the template to be used for reporting organising and recruitment activity is attached to this LTB (Appendix 2). The boxes in the template are expandable to ensure there is enough space to record the relevant information. Once completed, the reports on progress (using the attached template) should be sent to Lynn Browne, Senior Field Organiser via email lbrowne@cwu.org by the following dates:

30th June 2017
30th September 2017
29th December 2017

Branches are reminded that we are keen to encourage a far greater ‘joined up’ approach between all key stakeholders which fully unites us around the organising agenda and that the Postal Field Organisers are there to assist with the project.
