LTB 033/17 - Terms of Reference between Royal Mail Fleet and CWU for the expansion of external work

Dear Colleagues,

Terms of Reference between Royal Mail Fleet and CWU for the expansion of external work

I am pleased to report that Terms of Reference have been agreed between CWU and Royal Mail Fleet (attached) for the expansion of maintenance work for outside companies.

External maintenance was piloted from July 2015, initially in six workshops, subsequently extended to 20. Contracts have been won with British Gas, ARI, Leaseplan, Zurich and the RAC.

Potential exists for Royal Mail Fleet to become a major force in a competitive market, increasing revenue for Royal Mail and providing secure jobs through growth together with improved earnings opportunities for employees in Fleet now and in the future.

The rollout will operate under existing pay, terms and conditions and all current agreements. The overall remuneration package will be reviewed with the objective of enabling workshop staff to benefit from efficiencies generated by the expansion of workload and supporting recruitment and retention of skilled and competent technicians.

A Joint Statement will be issued to workshops later this week.

I was thinking of using this service for my car, whilst individual workshops can differ, has anyone any experience of this service?

You can't be serious !!! They can't even keep our own vehicles in a decent state as it is

But that's not their fault,like us they can only deal with the hand they have,look at the crap kit we get, I didn't think they did that bad a job ,under the circumstances!

Van went in because reversing lights will not work they said "it's ok you don't need them" oh why did they fit them in the first place? Wipers will not work on full speed "oh you don't need full speed that is only for the monsoon season" van was passed by MOT test doubt my car would have done so if not for turning a blind eye or two!
