The Postal services act of 2011 (Transfer of Accrued Pension
Rights) Order 2012
makes clear the death in service benefits for section B and C members.
So when RM suggests death in service under the new proposed DC scheme is this in addition to the existing death in service?
Ie will we get 4 times pensionable pay for the RMSPS and also 4 times for the new DC scheme.

Confused over death in service
Not an expert on this, and I stand to be corrected by Robert T who knows far more about this subject then me. However, I believe because the DC scheme doesn't pay a death in service benefit, because it is such an inferior scheme compared to our DB scheme, Royal Mail have offered as an inducement for members of the DB scheme to vote to accept the more inferior DC scheme have agreed to pay a death in service lump sum payment when members are moved to the DC scheme. I think this will only apply to members who move from the DB scheme along with a paltry £750 less tax .

Vote NO. This will personally cost me about £2000 a year. I am a union member, and a proud one. The union are fighting hard to protect all our jobs and our terms and conditions. However, this is only personal opinion, I believe when the union allowed Royal Mail to split its members by agreeing to provide two different pension schemes that was a big mistake. The DC scheme is far inferior to our scheme and has now allowed Royal Mail to split the workforce in a divide and conquer approach. Once 55% of the workforce are part time, they will then use the same approach to force the other 45% to go part time. Indeed, dangerous times lay ahead . The union in their wisdom have now realised this , and according to the latest press releases that have been sent out and from what I have been read on the cwu website, the new way of thinking is to vastly improve the inferior DC pension scheme which will no doubt benefit those members. So,those new member in the DC scheme who say this doesn't affect us why should we support this potential strike should be standing shoulder to shoulder with their colleagues . I can see the DC scheme being greatly enhanced , along with greater protection for ALL our terms and conditions for EVERYONE ! Remember unity is strength .

Confused over death in service
My reading of it, is that the current death in service we get via the RMPP will be replaced with what’s outlined on page 9 of the review booklet:
Death in service benefit – a lump sum of 4 times your pensionable pay, plus an additional 2 times pensionable pay if you leave financial dependants.

4 times pensionable pay over last 32 years of service . Or 4 times stripped pensionable pay after being yet again robbed and raped by royal mail ? Dunno why we keep allowing this to happen.

How can they replace it, the RMSPS death in service lump sum is found in the Post office Act and cannot be changed without referring it back to ParliamentRobertT wrote:My reading of it, is that the current death in service we get via the RMPP will be replaced with what’s outlined on page 9 of the review booklet:
