Bob Gibson – CWU National Assistant Secretary (Outdoor)

The purpose of this LTB is to advise branches that following a recent serious illness, Bob Gibson, National Outdoor Secretary (Postal), will be retiring from the union with effect from the 31st January 2017.

The CWU would wish to place on record our sincere thanks for the work Bob has done on behalf of our members over many years.

In the Postal Constituency, Bob had been a leading and respected activist in the field before being elected to the position of National Outdoor Assistant Secretary in 2003.

On a personal note, I know from working with Bob over many years, that above all else, he has always put the interests of our members first.

There is no doubt that Bob has made a great contribution to the union and the wider movement and in due course we will ensure his contribution is properly recognised. In the meantime, I can advise that Bob is recovering well and we wish him all the best for the future.

Finally, I can also advise that the NEC will be considering the arrangements for dealing with Bob’s vacancy next week and further information will follow on this.
