You get Your DOM to suspend deliveries to the areas where You may get parking tickets and watch the sh1t hit the fan

If it's really impossible to park then it should be changed to an hct duty.

It's too far from the office to be an HCT duty. Royal Mail in their wisdom closed our office and moved us into the city centre!

You'll be needing dropped off with 2 HTC's then. And if there are any flats they won't be getting their mail!

We could perhaps have some lockable boxes put in the streets and find safe places to leave bags of mail. We could call them bag drops and we could take posties out in big vans and drop them off and they could go from bag drop to bag drop picking up the mail as they go round. Another postie in a van could deliver the parcels that were too big for the walking guys to take! We could use bikes to take mail in areas where parking restrictions were too tight as well. We could save LOADS of money on not having thousands of vans we can't park anywhere. Innovative or what?????

More seriously, in our office there are 2 walks that are officially still done with pouch boxes because of parking restrictions in the town centre.

I’d back our staff almost 100% of the time but that’s just plain stupidity from the OPG in question.

You just don’t park on double yellows at a 4 way junction next to a school.

If it’s not safe or efficient to park your van elsewhere then it comes at the expense of delivering the mail until a better solution is found by management.

Unfortunately as he is in a public place there can be no expectation of privacy,therefore mr Neighbourhood nosey Parker can put the image up.
More importantly why is he parked on a bed and what’s it doing in the road.

I was on a driving assessment not so long ago and the assessor quoted the Highway Code in detail. It basically read that any delivery company can park on double yellows. I can't remember the exact wording but it wasn't just for royal mail and the terminology it used sounded like it was referring to a competitor but it was just a general description. I'll see if I can dig it up. Little worrying if he was wrong.

I can confirm that parking on double yellow lines (without other restrictions in place ie. no loading) is perfectly fine for between 20-40 minutes depending on the local authority. For longer a permit may be required.
