Dear Colleagues,

This is to update all CWU Health and Safety Representatives, Regional Health and Safety Forums, Branches and Regional Committees of an announcement made yesterday.

LTB 533/16, dated 9 September 2016‎, notified Branches that Dr Shaun Davis, Royal Mail Group Director of Safety, Health, Wellbeing & Sustainability had resigned from the business on Monday 4 September 2016 and would be leaving his position at the end of his notice period (circa February 2017).

At a meeting yesterday Dr Davis informed me that following discussions with Chief Executive Officer and RMG Board Members he was announcing his decision to withdraw his resignation and to stay with Royal Mail Group.

Dr Davis explained that he was enthusiastic about continuing and building on the good work done since he had joined Royal Mail Group and that there is still much to do, collectively by the safety community of the RMG SHE Team and the Union’s Health and Safety Representatives.He said that he very much looks forward to working with myself, the CWU HQ Health, Safety and Environment Department and the hardworking and dedicated CWU ASRs, WSRs and the Royal Mail Group SHE Team – the combined Safety, Health and Environment Community – on all aspects of the exciting and challenging work that we still have to do.

In response I thanked Dr Davis for promptly informing the CWU following the decision and announcement which was welcomed and shared his commitment to ongoing joint working and problem solving in the field of Health and Safety as the business moves forward into the future.
