Funny thing is im not on a fixed term contract my one is permanent although i still have not passed the probationary period so he may have been yapping on about that. Had to oblige on this occasion, i know what he said wasn't right but have to get through these few months on a clean slate before I can start to cut off/ work to my time
i take it there was no witnesses to this ? a blatant example of b&h

The only witnesses were other managers. Everyone elsej had already left the office at that point. And tbh i do not want to pursue this any further i just want to keep my head down and do as they say until my 6 months probation is up then if he tries this again i will put in a grievance. The other managers including the DOM didn't want him to even conduct this little 'chat' as they mentioned to him that its not necessary. But he went ahead anyways to try and "teach me a lesson" that cutting off can jeopardise my employment at this company. :mad
think you'll find you're on probation for 12 months & not 6.
My contract (started 12 months ago) said six months probation as did a few others that I started with.

Name and shame the f*cker - it's twats like this that just shame the words "Royal Mail" (probably because it's now "Royal Mail plc" ...) - I've similar probs insofar as me and my "pardner" refuse to go over ... I'm a p/t who has been coming in early doors (on o/t) to do prep ... but at least 4 days a week we leave in ... this week I'm not required early doors and the excuse given was "even when you come in early - you leave in" - so I see this as a punishment (I lose money !). We have linos that A) have never walked the walk and B) were failed posties that got "moved up"

Hey ho ... come Christmas their treatment of staff will certainly come back to bite them on their (lazy) arse ... can't wait !

In my office generally the majority of the managers are ok except for this little pr**k. He seems like he owns the place even when its actually the DOM who has more authority over him and everyone else. Like you i can't wait for christmas to see the amount of work that gets left behind because people want to work to their time and NOT go over, when that happens they come begging to anyone they can find to get the work done. But most in my office refuse unless its cash in hand deal. :cool

f***s sake, Royal Mail you absolute bastards. Is it really necessary to have such a brutally cruel end to a shitty enough week as it is?
You'll deserve everything you get over the Christmas, and then some!

Quite probably the worst Tuesday since last Xmas, despite no WTLL. Tomorrow might seem seem a breeze in comparison, given the contract hours are longer than today!

You leave in? I bet the manager is not reporting this no way should you be leaving work and claiming O/T no wonder he/she stopped the early starts. You can not complain about losing money if you do not want to work its your choice.

Fantastic. I get in early to my shift like I have been this week as have five lots of d2ds to put out. I requested to managers I would like to have them put out as don't have time. Every day they haven't and it falls on me to do it when I get back.

Today I come in and find none of my mail has been put out well, a quarter of the frame. I get dropped out and don't start until 1040. I somehow managed to do it in 4 hours even though there was a lot of mail and packets. Then prepped a loop and a half of more d2ds!

Can't wait until tomorrow.

Got out about an hour later than the norm, utter pig of a day, lots of packets, last letter getting on for 16:00.

Have to say yesterday was the worse day of my life since I joined RM.
The minute I started work yesterday to the minute I finished ! Worked 1hr over my time to try & complete. Then I get back to the van & realise that we had missed a special :-( I wrote down 5 on my list & there was actually 6 (it was a letter) Obviously we went back to try & redeliver but no one was home. Anyone know if I'm going to get into serious trouble for that ?
It was a genuine mistake just hope my manager sees it that way

Plenty more days like that to come, I'm afraid.
