Are there any drivers on here undergoing the trial for route optimiser. I'm surprised there's no mention of it as it looks as though they are determined to implement what is a major change to working practice?

And how does it cope with ad-hoc collections.

Drivers have to fit them as usual. However any other deviation from the route is an offence. The routing is random at best and the timings are very tight. Could do with feedback from other depots as we are being told that reviews around the country are favourable. If that's true and it comes in then I'm off.

I work at london east and it is not very popular. You can input to a degree with adjustments but it can have you deliver down the same street on 3 different occasions (it happened to me last week) . They want you to achieve 80% but some drivers are having a tough time completing their route and failing parcels and then getting the third degree . I personally don't find it to bad and it won't be going away so it's a case of having to get on with it !

I always play them at their own game,,Im not averse to progress but if the route optimizer sends me down the same street 3 times in the same day ,I don't stress over it,,i fail parcels and explain to those who are sat in the office having their lunch, and criticising the drivers and those that that know best whats happening,,after all,,if it wasn't broken in the first place,,then why fix it ??

They are using it for agency and reserve drivers at our depot it's quite good for that apparently. If they make me use it I will just do as said above and fail parcels and finish on time.

Hi, Route 'optimiser' came to our depot, York, last week. It's being used on the reserve drivers and agency. Some of us regulars have had the new manifests voluntarily. Some thought it ok, I do quite a large area with both Urban and Rural parts. I only followed it for the first two hours then went back to my own planning. It was sending me all over and if I had stuck to it, would have returned to the depot half hour after my finish time. This to me surely indicated that I had to many drops for the time and area I cover but the line manager just couldn't understand my thinking this! I think it's a ok idea if you're not familiar with the area but not for regular route drivers. It just doesn't have any common sense! We know which areas to avoid at certain times, schools for example!

Every driver in our depot used it on Saturday morning. I don't know how anybody else got on but it weren't too bad on my route like. Plus points were it gave me a good route no going back and forth like. Minus points it nearly made me fail pf10 and had me back in depot an hour before I got there. Also it didn't schedule me a break in a 8 hour shift
