The Rape of our Pension's Part Two

Post by k979aaa »

Today like many of you all I received a letter informing me of yet another pillage and rape of our pensions in which we all will lose benefits or must contribute too the full cost ie PAY MORE and that we are not being properly consulted on this. As we are told of this even when they knew years ago they could not meet these pension costs even though all liabilities were taken by the then government! this letter goes on to say the markets are worse than 2013 even though the stock market is higher than then where has all this money gone? This whole letter of intent stinks it's another scam by royal mail for royal mail and their whole corrupted business plan. Whatever you thought of gaining in a wage rise would be gone when this kicks in and it will because I remember the last time it happened!

The ftse100 is lower than it was 3yrs ago. It has lost over 10% in the last 6 months. I think you could say that was challenging. It's only gonna get worse now with brexit. People voting out, didn't seem to realise their pensions were at stake. 'as long as they sort the immigrants out' (which they're not able to do) was the blinkered approach by some leave voters.

The fact of the matter is she the Canadian one did the whole thing before in Canada and f****d them all over. They knew what their strategy was and she will do it again the stock market was a 1000 points higher in 2015 and at most times higher than 2013 it is only since the referendum have they been lower so this invested money has gone or misappropriated or lost in the book's!

The Rape of our Pension's Part Two

While I’m not disagreeing with the sentiment of this thread I think I need to make a few points:

1) As of 2013 when the last ‘three yearly valuation’ was carried out only 13% of the assets were actually invested in equities. With the rest divided up as follows(according to RM’s Statement of Investment Principles):

Property – 8%
High yield Credit – 3.5%
Alternative investments – 7.5%
Investment Grade Credit – 11%
Emerging Market Debt – 2%
Liability-hedging assets, derivatives and collateral – 55%

2) Equities can be very volatile as shown by RM shares, while the investments the company now uses are much safer but offer lower returns.

3) By law RM have to have a consultation period, but ultimately they can make the changes if they want to.

4) We will not lose any benefits we have already accrued, but after 2018 we will not build up any more on the same basis as now.

So while I do not dispute all in the post above where has the money gone? even so why should we who work hard every day pay the price for ineptitude and bad investments by those who should know better and even then the whole scheme closing it's not ineptitude it is fraud.
