Notice before retirement

Hi.

I plan to retire at the age of 61 after 40 years of service. As I'm weekly paid, how much notice do I need to give?

You only need to give 1 weeks notice to your DOM.
But if you haven’t already taken your pension, I suggest getting in touch with the pension centre in Chesterfield 2-3 months in advance.

From your first post I assumed you were coming up to 61.
They should contact you a couple of months before you’re 60, if not then get in touch with them.

If you know that you will deffinitely be retiring then, it would be courteus to give a few months notice; that way they can get a new recruit in, and train someone up on your walk if necessary.
