Cold day with hailstone. Busy day, although as bad as I thought following yesterdays lighter than usual Friday.

Not a bad day, I would have been better staying in rather than Saturday overtime but everything got done.
We had a WTL during the week warning of comments on social media. I keep getting friend recommendations about the guy who did the WTL.on FB...

Part of 2010 sell-out. Because our Saturdays were needlessly made longer, more tiresome, they give us the odd one off once in a blue moon. Lucky, eh?ewancurze wrote:On a SATURDAY!!!, How on earth did you manage thatDirtyHarry wrote:Off today. Yippeeeee!!!!!!
To be honest, I would go back to what we had pre-2010 like a shot.

Area rep was in the office concerned about the last time we had a fire drill.
Priorities?

Perhaps it's a new strategy HQ have devised to get members to the gate...motherhubbard wrote:Area rep was in the office concerned about the last time we had a fire drill.

Depends I suppose - if you're in a small sub DO of about five posties where you can be outside themotherhubbard wrote:Area rep was in the office concerned about the last time we had a fire drill.

DO in an emergency in five strides not a big deal but if you're in busy City Centre DO of at least 120 people where
you've never been shown the fire exits at you're initial workplace induction (what workplace
induction I ask myself!) or where the evacuation assembly points are or you've never heard
the fire alarm being tested then it could be quite a big deal - could be an indicator of more serious problems in the
H & S culture of the business. By the way guess which type of office I work in......
You could use this as an opportunity to say to him 'As well as the lack of fire drills, nobody has
had Manual Handling Training, training on SSOW for the HCT' etc etc. I know some of the
old timers will say 'just get on with it' but then these threads are full of people who have
injuries from lack of knowledge/training from these things.
Union appointed H&S reps also have responsibilities under H&S law to represent the workforce.
Finally, the employer and your managers

Paired up with another walk and we've gone over every day. Somehow I don't think it's do able. Absolutely scorching every day.

Positively shocking, partly thanks to National Trust; JD Williams; Screwfix catologues.
Think I might have used up at least all of summer's goodwill completing duty with lots of overtime.

I believe Royal Mail will kill someone with these workloads. In fact, I suspect they already probably have.
There's hard graft, we all know that, but what Royal Mail bosses put us through day in, day out, relentlessly pushing, never satisfied, no let up whatsoever, isn't conducive to good health, not by a long chalk it's not.
