Will i get the latest and last allocation of shares?

Post by paulthepostie »

I really could do with some advice and would be really grateful.

As previously mentioned on the blue shirts forum i will be leaving on IHR in a few weeks or so.

Will i qualify the last allocation of shares?, as i am still employed when it was mentioned a few weeks ago that we'd get another one per cent and also when it was announced initially last year that the government was offloading them.

Thanks once again!.

It all depends what the qualifying criteria is, but the last 3 issue you have had to be STILL employed on the date of issue.

To be eligible, you need to have been continuously employed by Royal Mail Group Limited from 1 June 2015 and still be employed when the SIP 2015 Free Shares are awarded in October 2015.

Now that we are on the brink of (or in?) the 2016/17 tax year, I would expect the government to proceed quickly to gift us the last batch of shares, because, under the Inland Revenue rules, we cannot be awarded more than £3000-worth of shares in any single tax year. Which is why, when the share price shot up on flotation day, they could only give us 613 shares apiece in the initial allocation (at the time of flotation, in 2013). We were entitled to 729 shares each, but as the price had risen to 489p (I think), they had to allocate the other 116 later, at the start of the 2014/15 tax year

It was/is the governments intention to hand over the last 1% of shares to RM before the end of the 2015/16 tax year. It is then up to RM when they allocate them to us but it should be sometime during 2016. This gives you all the info: http://www.royalmailchat.co.uk/communit ... 38&t=73244" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;.

Full timers will probably get about 100 shares from this last allocation assuming the shares from 'bad leavers' are reallocated as they were last time. So the £3,000 per year rule will have no bearing on the matter whatsoever.

In the T&C of the latest VR that you ad to sign upto in order to receive VR it stated that you forfeited any right to future share allocations, no doubt alluding to this last batch. As stated there are 1b rm shares in issue so if the gvmt is still planning to distribute 1% then that is 'only' 10m shares so if 120,000 staff app each will get about 84 shares.

When the previous 1% was allocated, we got 103 shares each, pro-rata for part-time. On that basis, I can't see it being less than 103 shares apiece this time, and it will almost certainly be more than last time, because some people will have left the business (voluntarily or otherwise) since the previous 1% was allocated; therefore, same number of shares available to allocate, spread amongst slightly fewer staff = 104? 105? shares each :whistle
