You need to see your H&S rep with your worn out shoe's as I have said before I wear my own footwear because Royal mail issue rubbish has damaged my feet and when ever they wear out I show them my DOM and I order some more,if he were to refuse my first action would be to get in touch with OH assist and explain to them,if your shoes are worn out they must be replaced and if royal mail don't allow you to then that is a H&S matter,I seriously doubt that any trainer is capable of lasting 6 months on delivery.

6 months???? Do your colleagues find that their shoes last so long? The only ones of mine that do last such a very long time as that are my heavy-duty 'foul weather' boots I have. Thankfully I only need to wear them occasionally!

It doesn't matter, if you were not wearing RM issue without official permission then you could be charged with misconduct for failing to wear the uniform.

If you have an accident at work and the root cause analysis ascertains that your footwear has some part to play in that accident then…
Yourself as the wearer and your Manager are both responsible for ensuring that they have ensured so far as is reasonably practicable that said footwear is suitable within the working environment.

So in English,if OH say you can wear your own footwear and the DOM is happy with it you are ok.

yes and you can even put in a claim of £30 per pair I believe.

I work indoors on a concrete floor, I,m not the only one suffering . I,ve got myself a pair of wolverine dura shocks . They have safety toe caps . Since I,ve worn them my feet have settled down . They might not work for you but it,s worth a try? .
