Terrible day. Packets through the roof and mail hardly fitting into the slots.
The usual battle to try and get your manager to understand you need to be back on your time. Getting sick of it.

just tell them youll be coming back on time and likely wont have completed before you go out, whether they understand or not isnt your problem. I can understand the frustration for you as its happened to me, I now take the approach that im not looking to debate with them about it, im coming back on time and thats it... dont have to be rude about it, just be polite and firm.Anonymouse wrote:Terrible day. Carnage
Left loads, finished at my finishing time, dom saying they have nobody to take it out. If they don't care, neither do I

Re: The "How was your day" thread.
Glad to see the back of another s**t week slaving away for those thankless bastards. If there are harder working people than postal workers in deliveries, I've yet to see them.
Week off now, thank Christ.
Hoping against hope that the bastards aren't too hard on my colleagues in deliveries next week.

this surprised me today had a knock on the door today sun afternoon and a yodel driver at the door with a tiny easily post able signed for packet which only cost 3.65 with free postage to buy , this was closely followed by an email confirming del .
this must be what we are going to be expected to cope with in the near future

Garbage day
Wet and wind, dark at 2pm
Parcels through the roof
Letters looking like paper mache when posted
Shorter hours but went over 45 mins
Hopefully a clear run for "easy" Tuesday

One and a half yorks of parcels on a tuesday, is that normal? Hour over and have the worst pain in the top left of my foot. I want to go see a doctor tomorrow but I know I'm not going to be back in time, can I simply say I want to finish on my time instead of going over?
Also had my first complaint with a customer swearing at me for a letter being wet last week after the worst rain I've ever seen. What a fun day.

Almost a normal at ours today, but apparently the NDC is rammed full so tomorrow should be fun. Perhaps that's where the Special I sent yesterday has gone..........it hasn't been delivered and RM can't find it! Makes you proud...........

YES you can come back on time, your contracted hours is all you have to work, overtime is OPTIONAL. If you think you wont complete the workload before you go out on delivery, make sure to tell the manager that you wont complete in duty time. Theyll probably ask if you can stay out. Remember its up to you what you do with your own time, dont be bullied into staying out if you dont want to do it.camelelf wrote:One and a half yorks of parcels on a tuesday, is that normal? Also regarding yorks of packets, we probably had 3 full today so yeah its now normal, RM has attempted to make duties on maximising our time for most of the year, The problems come when we get about 50-100% more packets at this time of year (and probably more than that, i hohestly dont have time to count!) yet RM makes no plans for this mail to be delivered apart from "can you stay out and complete?" :arrrghhh
