I am finding the same problems at Swindon MC... New faces all the time who get the shifts because they are on the lower rate...
When i ring for shifts, i am told that i need to wait to be contacted by Angard, and that i should not be calling them pestering for work. I would not mind this , but their own phone system invites you to "press 2 if you are enquiring about shifts"..
I understand that Angard are now recruiting upwards of 60 newbies for Swindon to cover christmas, so if thats the case, i doubt the long term workers will struggle to get many or any shifts at all..

Re: Being teated like dirt.
I worked as a Christmas casual for two months from November to January. Got kept on until the final shift when there were only 15 of us left and then got transferred to Angard. Some of the managers in the sorting office know me pretty well although I don't think they have much involvement (if any) in getting people from Angard in. I got shifts for quite a while with Angard but now I've not heard from them for eight weeks. Not a single text or call. Any idea what is happening? I started another job a few days ago but I'd still possibly do some shifts if I was off work when they offer a shift. It seems strange, although not exactly unexpected with Angard, for them to completely disappear like this. I have no idea if anyone else has been getting shifts other than that my friend (who started in May) hasn't had any texts or calls in the last eight weeks either. Crazy that they hired a bunch of new people, including her, gave them shifts for about three weeks and haven't contacted them since.
Right now, I probably wouldn't even be able to do most shifts if I got offered any but I still think it's pretty bad for them to suddenly disappear like this without a word.

"Not pestering Angard for work? How utterly perverse! One is actually displaying keeness, willingness and motivation to work. There is nothing wrong in being PROACTIVE. Keep ringing folks...at Exeter MC Angardees typically get less than an hour's notice so by ringing one is actually trying to avoid last minute calls, afterall punctuality and reliabilty are sought after?millommatt wrote:I am finding the same problems at Swindon MC... I to have found the same and what really gets me is when luke call and asks if u can go in the same day,,which u do ,only to finf u have not been paid cos ur name is not on the list they now owe me 7 hours of work in not going to let it goStumpy69 wrote:I work for Angard Staffing. Phone up regarding shifts with the reply, "got shifts will ring you back in 5 mins".
After 4 hours of waiting I ring back and to my surprise phone is cut off. This has been going on since the start of the new year.
When I do finally get shifts which are few and far between I'm told by other casuals that they've had phone calls to go in morning noon and night.
I find this totally unprofessional when they assured all staff hours would be given out equally. I work at NWMMC Wolverhampton.

Re: Being treated like dirt.
I know the feeling - where I'm working you only get phone calls for 4 hour shifts and that's only for possibly 1-3 times a week and then you have worked for another section/department of the Royal Mail that you know the job backwards and always get the required work amount out on time with extras get kicked out so that favoured workers who like to chat stay on.
I agree over Christmas - I probably will see what happens over Xmas but if this keeps happening then I probably move on. I'm a person with bills - not a punchbag for Angard and managers who want to keep their lazy favourites all of the time.
