Help! Parcel returned to sender but who is the sender?

Post by chuichi »

Hi all,

I've received a "Something for you" card but I've been away and have missed the 18 calendar days which the depot holds the item for me.

It's a Royal Mail Signed For parcel with a tracking reference number.

I called customer services and was advised the item was indeed returned to sender but we cannot see if the sender has already received it since it takes several days to update the system (that's what she said to me over the phone). I asked if I can find out who the sender is but she said it's not on record.

Question is, we have a tracking reference number and the item is definitely returned to sender. How can I find out who the sender is?

I wasn't expecting the parcel at all so would love to know who has sent me an item and with a tracking reference too!

Any ideas if I can find out this information at all please? Thank you!!

http://www.royalmail.com/trackdetails" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Enter the tracking number there, it might show where it was posted

I do know which area it was posted at, in fact it tells me which post office it was posted at, but it doesn't give me any details regarding the sender...... :cry

Have you ordered anything from any person or company based in that area?

I wouldn't have ordered anything for it to be posted to my home address... usually I would use my work address.

The fact that a parcel has been sent to my home address means I haven't ordered anything... I'm guessing wildly but perhaps I could've won a competition? But I never received an email about it.

Absolutely no idea how to find out who the sender is, but of course someone must know, because the parcel was returned to the sender! How else can I find out who the sender is? :hmmmm

You can't its not something that Royal Mail keep records of. After all 58,000,000 go through the system on an average day, that would take a lot of record keeping :Very Happy

The only option is to wait till the sender contacts you and asks why it was sent back to them.

I guess you're right...

Just that the sender may give up and never contact me, so I won't ever find out what it is

Thanks anyway

The postman who tried to deliver it to you may possibly have noticed the return address so you could have a word with him. It's a long shot as he has no reason to take a note of it. However the staff back at the Delivery Office office will have seen it ans sent it on it's way - but again unless they have photographic memories they are unlikely to be able to remember unless they are in a small quiet office.

I thought the same thing actually, so am gonna try my luck and ask at the delivery office which held the parcel for 18 days...
