Targets, targets, targets....!!!
For the life of me, I am not getting this - we all know what can be achieved realistically & as previously posted, some bod sat on a comp. isn't likely to assess what's achievable & what isn't !
Why don't they look at a route & ride pillion for a day?
Why aren't the amount of ad hoc collections taken into account? (Feels like you work for one company in the morning & another one in the afternoon).
Why are you questioned if you are 3 or 4 drops short, yet never questioned if you haven't taken a break???
We are all shareholders, yet seem to have no input.
Why oh why oh why?
Any union reps please answer-preferably the ones without brown noses!
A stop is a stop is a stop, collection or delivery!

Re: Targets, targets, targets...
we have a DCM who doesnt give a monkies about collection in his words "its not my problem" and the collection manager is the same about deliveries. . As you said a drop or collection is still a stop but our DCM only tots up the deliveries you go out with, you may well have 13 scheduled collection on top of your deliveries.
When you get people like that why should any of us give a shute.

Just to clarify a point, you are not forced to take a break (unless you are on tacho ) but be aware that if you don't take a break and you have signed the break register for that day and you have an accident in which someone is injured then you could be in serious trouble for lying about taking a break, the break register is only there as a legal requirement to cover the depot in case of an accident,,remember you cannot be disciplined for taking a break. It is a LEGAL requirement to be offered a lunch break however you are not required to do so unless you so wish.

The dcm's in the morning will try to load you up with drops but if you work your hours and take a break and do not get back early if you are getting sa then if you fail drops there is nowt they can do about it , the ones I feel sorry for are the agency drivers in our depot as they get stuck on full routes with little training and then dcm's are supriseD when they fail a load of parcels and then get shown the door !

Re: Targets, targets, targets...
..A break register is a legally binding document that ALL depots must ensure that those drivers who work 11 hours or more a day MUST sign to say they have had a break, whether or not they have taken a break,It is purely there to protect the depot management in the event of a driver having an accident in which a person was injured or worse. We all know that the pressure of work dictates if we have a break or not but by not having a break and signing that you have had a break is fraud and it could lead to serious implications..for the driver.Just to reiterate...the break register is purely there as a get out of jail card for the management.,so ONLY sign it if you have had your LEGALLY entitled break, eric the viking wrote:What the F*** is a break register ?cantonkid1955 wrote:Just to clarify a point, you are not forced to take a break (unless you are on tacho ) but be aware that if you don't take a break and you have signed the break register for that day and you have an accident in which someone is injured then you could be in serious trouble for lying about taking a break, the break register is only there as a legal requirement to cover the depot in case of an accident,,remember you cannot be disciplined for taking a break. It is a LEGAL requirement to be offered a lunch break however you are not required to do so unless you so wish.

Re: Targets, targets, targets...
Ask your dcm for the break register,As Ive said in my post,,here in Newport depot, those drivers on an 11 hour duty must,by law, sign the break register to confirm they have indeed, had a break,,with Autumn pressure now building it is imperative that drivers ONLY sign the register IF they have had their break and remember, you CANNOT be disciplined for having your break. If you have pressure of work,,then leave an hours work off your van,,when its on your van then its your problem, when its in the depot then its THEIR problem.
