I am new to this job,ie.sorting mail for Royal Mail through Angard agency..It is immediately apparent that somewhere along the line there is at least one scam going on..Why do keen good workers get only one or two shifts a week whilst the agency continue to recruit new workers..? If Angard were paid initially for each casual employee,then it would make sense to have five workers doing one shift a week rather than one worker doing doing five shifts..After twelve weeks on the minimum wage, pay jumps up circa.47% .Wow,a big increase ,so it's no surprise that by then shifts are getting even rarer.Why pay someone £10 per hour when you can get a new starter for the minimum wage......I feel sorry for anyone who joined up in good faith expecting to have an income to help pay the bills......no chance.The sooner the government stop "zero hours contracts" the better..

Even if the Government did stop "Zero Hour" contracts it won't affect Angard as they are Causal contracts - 2 different types of contracts.

A Zero Hour contract makes the person an employee as opposed to a Casual contract which makes them a worker - a minor difference for the individual but a huge one in employment law.

The main difference is that a Casual Worker is not normally obliged to accept work offered, a Zero Hours worker generally is.

Also Zero Hour contracts are seen as a Permanent Contracts with the rights and benefits that come with them, Casual Contracts aren't.
