Pension ?

Post by newboy23 »

I joined royal mail just over 3 years ago and have stopped paying into the pension, cause I couldn't afford it, I am now in a position to start paying back into it, but have a 2 questions

is it really worth paying into ?

if i leave royal mail what will happen to the money I've paid in ?

Yes it is! You will receive contributions off RM which is ‘free money’ and you will get tax relief on your contributions so a £10 per week payment off you only costs £8. You will need something to live on in your retirement and your RM pension however small, will help you along the way.

As you’re in the RMDCP with Zurich you can either ‘freeze’ you pension or transfer it to another one.

Newboy23 started working for RM 3 years ago and so is in the RM Defined Contribution Pension, which you can stop and start your payments to if you want.
Anyone who starting working for RM and joined the pension scheme before April 2008 will be in the RMPP which has been closed since that date and can't be rejoined.
