Our DO is currently undergoing a major refurb.
Part of the refurb involves the toilets.
We had 2 male toilets - a total of 4 urinals and 4 cubicles.
We also had 2 female toilets.
We have a daily staff of around 50 male staff and 4 female staff.
The refurb had involved the complete demolition of our downstairs toilets leaving us with:
1 male toilet - 1 urinal and 2 cubicles.
1 female toilet.
With addition of a team of around 10 builders on a daily basis that means we have 1 urinal and 2 cubicles for about 60 male staff.
Some of the male staff have been using the female toilets as they have little alternative, but this has supposedly been stopped.
We have asked our DOM why a temporary toilet facility is not being provided and his answer was simply that the building works are nothing to do with him it's down to RM.
Surely this cannot be right and must fall under some sort of H&S requirement?
These works are looking likely to continue for at least another month - 2 months.
With no H&S rep or even a Union rep that can be bothered what can we do?
