Voluntary Redundancy and shares

Hi all . Need help !
I am thinking of taking VR . Will i lose my free shares or can i cash them in ?
I am 51 and been in the job 32 years if that makes any difference . Thanks

If you leave Royal Mail for any of the following reasons:

You have an injury or disability which means you can no longer do your job
You are made redundant
You retire
The part of the company or business you work for is sold or transferred
You die,
you will not lose your Free Shares and you (or the people managing your estate if you die) will not have to pay income tax or National Insurance on their value.

If you leave Royal Mail for any of the above reasons more than three years after Free Shares are given to you, you will not lose your Free Shares and will not have to pay income tax or National Insurance on their value.

Hi, just adding to this post, does anyone know what kind of lump sum Royal mail are offering as I'm quite interested in leaving as well but have only been in the company for 8 years!!

EVR/VR is offered in specific cases where they are reducing duties in an office, and its offered on a Seniority basis. With only 8 years service the odds are low to vanishingly small that you'll get offered it.

EVR is only available to the over 55's.
VR is potentially available to anyone, although as it's done on seniority, only long serving posties are likely to get it.
