Newbie in Leicestershire

Post by reggiebaby »

Hi folks. Im a newbie postman (maybe) and i start tomorrow on a 6 month P/T 25hrs contract in leicestershire (not sure if i should name the office yet). I have a training day tomorrow at the Meridian office and then start at the depot on tuesday. Any advice on what to expect on the training day would be much appreciated. I have heard it'll be lifting, guarding off dogs and do's and don'ts and legal stuff. Thanks

Union stuff as well - Join is my recommendation.

The rest is all the paperwork you fill in for new jobs.

Tuesday will seem like a blur and you won't have a clue whats going on - no one does :chuckle - I suggest taking a small notebook to make notes and jot questions.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Am I allowed to say or could I get in trouble for it? Don't want to drop someone in it on my first week

As a newbie, its best not to say anything too specific. In fact I would recommend not posting anything at all that could identify you or the office you are in, until you are settled in and know what you can and can't say without ending up in trouble, or putting anyone else in it for that matter.

In fact its worth reminding everyone that what you say here is accessible to anyone who registers, therefore its best to treat this as a PUBLIC site and only post things you are willing to say face to face in a disciplinary with a Manager, or a tribunal, or in the worst cases in front of the bench.
