The two roles require different skill sets, definitely. Delivery work is probably more physically demanding. But once you start down the road of arguing in favour of paying different pay rates according to where you work, it's a slippery slope, possibly leading to individual rates of pay, based on appraisals from your Line Manager. God help you if you've stood up for yourself in the past, with a Lino who then gives you a rating that marks your pay down to the lowest band possible
And what about RDC employees?
The people that load the trains at PRDC, the people who sort mail on the filled-in spaces between the abandoned platforms, are working in outdoor conditions just as much as someone on the walks. Worse in fact, on nights, as those people are enduring winter temperatures below that faced by delivery guys who are out during daytime.
