Inaccessible Address
Recently I ordered a product from Amazon on 14/01/15 and Royal Mail was supposed to deliver it on the 15/01/15. It is now 16/01/15 and I've still yet to receive the parcel from them. I used the tracking number from Amazon to check where my parcel is and they have said that "Item XXXXXXXXXXXGB could not be delivered on 2015-01-16 as the address was inaccessible. It is being held at Hengoed DO pending collection/redelivery instructions from the addressee." Now I know for a fact that my address isn't inaccessible since the Postman did arrive that day with other parcels and not with mine. Usually when I don't get an item delivered properly (usually when no one is home), I normally have the parcel go to another address that I have cello taped to the door in case of that particular moment. I checked with them to see if for some reason the parcel went there and it didn't. Now if they didn't go there and they said they tried to deliver it to a next door neighbour or they sent it back down to Hengoed DO then I would get a "Something for you" card. And what do you know, I didn't get a card at all. So I have no clue what to do right now, I've contacted Royal Mail but that's going to take 3 days and I'm not really confident in them solving it any time soon. I've tried to re deliver it, like you would do if you had a "Something for you" card" but I tried to use the reference number that I used to track the parcel, and that hasn't worked. So now I've booked a redelivery without reference number, and I've entered what I assume the card would of said without the reference number since I tried to use the reference number that is used for tracking and that's somehow invalid so I left it blank. They've said they redeliver the parcel on 19/01/15 so I don't know whether they'll be able to just use my address that I used to book it or not and find the parcel from there and redeliver it. I've never had a problem with Royal Mail in the past. I don't know whether it's because of the snow we've had recently but if it was that case then the other parcel that I received today would have the same issue. If anyone could give me any advice on this situation would be great, thanks.

Re: Inaccessible Address
Do you live in a block of flats?
It is possible your packet is too large for your postie and came on a van.
S/he might not have been able to gain access.
As you say the snow may have prevented the driver from gaining access to your street.
In any case, the parcel should be retrievable without the tracking number before the 19/1.
If you see your postie, ask him/her if they know anything.
Was the parcel sent Special Delivery? In which case it can't be delivered to a neighbour or an alternative address.

The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Re: Inaccessible Address
I live in a house, not a flat. The parcel was Royal Mail Tracked. I ordered a PS3 game so the parcel it comes in easily fits through our door as I've ordered similar parcels before. Even when the parcel is too big, the postman would knock our door. My mom was cleaning at the time and she saw the postman deliver and would usually knock if it needs to be signed or if the parcel is too big. The postman delivered all the other mail without ease so I'm guessing he never had the parcel since I would of gotten a card or have received it from the address I have cello taped to the door.clashcityrocker wrote:Do you live in a block of flats?

Well according to that it did go out for delivery.
The other parcel was it also by Royal Mail or another firm.
Its possible they may reattempt delivery tomorrow if today the reason for being inaccessible was either the weather, or managers suspending deliveries.

Re: Inaccessible Address
Hopefully so, I've never had issues like this before and I've had up to 5 parcels arrive at once.TrueBlueTerrier wrote:DMcuber wrote:Here you go:TrueBlueTerrier wrote:check this site with the code and copy the output here http://www.royalmail.com/trackdetails" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; it may help us

Redelivery
So I was supposed to get a delivery today but it hasn't shown up and has returned to the DO without a "Something for you" card. I've tried to do a redelivery by assuming what it would say if I had gotten the card. So I tried with the tracking number that I have from Amazon but it says it's invalid. So I was wondering will Royal Mail redeliver my parcel with only my Name, address and the date it tried to deliver to?

Re: Redelivery
On your Amazon orders page on Amazon, when you click on the button to track the parcel do any entries come up for it?

Re: Inaccessible Address
If the address was inaccessible then by that very nature it wouldn't be possible to deliver a card to tell you that they couldn't access the delivery point.
The person delivering the post has to make a dynamic risk assessment of the access to your delivery point, if there is any reason for them to believe their may be a risk then your item will be scanned as undelivered and inaccessible. Just because one postie thinks its safe to make the delivery doesn't mean that another will.
Make sure there is nothing preventing safe access to your delivery point, too tight to fit past car/bin, dog warning sign or animal loose, broken gate/path, obstacles in route, overgrown plants/trees, hanging baskets, water pouring from gutter above door, animal behind letter box, letter box sealed/blocked to prevent wind banging flap during night etc.
