Morning!

Post by staindude »

Heard a rumour there was a postie forum, did a search and it looks like it's this one!

Starting work as a casual soon (that's why I'm still up late tonight!). Hate to think the reputation the casuals must have among the rest of you but all I can say is I always worked hard when I've done it before, harder than some full-timers!

Speak to you all soon.

I started as a casual 5 years ago and I am still here so we're not all bad. In fact most feel sorry I think because you tend to be dumped on a walk and told to get on with it. Then when it goes wrong you get blamed, typical style of RM management. Anyway everyone welcome will be nice to get your views.

Hi and welcome Staindude :wave
You are right that there is some hostility to casuals as management use them to undermine our industrial action.
But at the same time we do feel some sympathy to them as they are just being used by management, and are usually treated badly. Some people who started by being casuals in my mailcentre eventually got permanent contracts and became good union members. Have to say though that hasn't happened for about 4-5 years now as RM are cutting jobs.
But good luck to you.
