Delivery van with Christmas presents found after being stolen from Swansea's Sketty Park

A COURIER van containing Christmas presents was stolen in Swansea while the driver was making a delivery.

The theft took place in Sketty Park shortly before midday, but the yellow and green City Link vehicle was later found just over a mile away in Brynmill.

The Post understands that nothing had been stolen.

South Wales Police are investigating, and are appealing for information from the public.

Parcel delivery vans are often the target of thieves — and police have previously urged drivers to make sure their vehicles are locked, even if they are just dropping something off for a few moments.

Last Christmas thieves pinched a van containing electrical appliances and personal items while the driver was delivering a washing machine to a customer in Ynysforgan. The vehicles was recovered by Morriston Rugby Club. Meanwhile in June last year a parcel delivery van was stolen while the driver was on duty in Gorseinon.

A police spokesman said officers would like to hear from anyone with information about yesterday’s Sketty Park incident.

He said: “Police are investigating the theft of a City Link delivery van from Rhyd Y Defaid Drive in Sketty which was reported at 11.41am. The vehicle was later found in a lane near Alexandra Terrace in Brynmill.

“Enquiries into the theft are continuing. Anyone who saw the yellow and green Ford Transit, registration YD60 VDE between 11.40am and 2pm, should phone police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111, quoting occurrence number 1400462454.”
