A guide to owning shares will be landing on doorsteps from today.

The guide focuses on why share prices move and the benefits and risks of owning shares.

RMTV with Nick Hewer

There is also more information about owning shares on this week’s RMTV.

With more than 30 years’ experience working in the corporate and financial world, The Apprentice star Nick Hewer takes us through the ins and outs of owning shares. From what a share is, to what market capitalisation means, Nick explains what owning shares means in simple terms.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

I also agree, and as we haven't had the 3 year wait yet, unless we actually buy shares, we don't own any either.

They think we're idiots, clearly. It needs spelling out to us in simple words, apparently. Unfortunately, some of my colleagues are actually idiots, so apparently this is all necessary to cater for those idiots.

I remember once at a rare WTL, a manger with a whiteboard was explaining to the room that 9am specials had to be scanned before 9am and 1 o'clock specials had to be scanned before.... you guessed it, 1 o'clock.

Somebody asked him if he thought that we were all idiots and his answer was that our office had failed over 2 dozen specials because of late scans already that year, so it was clearly necessary to explain this to all of us in the most simple manner possible so that every idiot (my word, not his) would understand! :arrrghhh

I think the upper echelons of RM management have seen the number of threads on this very site about how much we get paid for D2D and why the Delivery Supplement shouldn't be pro rata and have come to the conclusion that we aren't very bright and consequently everything needs to be as simple and as clear as possible.

The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.
