Post by robinhood »

Hi peeps
What are the minimum courses HS reps need to carry out their duties. ie HS 1,HS2
Can you be just restricted to HS1

Who is restricting you? Self-imposed or management? The Health and Safety courses at Alvescot are excellent and well worth attending. The more you learn, the more confident you are and the better able you become in advising members and management on health and safety issues. I have done the courses upto the Occupational Health and found the interaction with tutors and colleagues on the course of immense value over the years.

Under current branch policy only hs 1 is applicable to safety reps unless at area level

That may be under your own branch, but definitely not a national policy

That will be for any trade union safety Rep

Yes, ideally you want to 'block book' in advance H&S 1, 2 and 3 so that you do them in sequence and not too far apart. I am surprised that any branch would restrict H&S reps to the first course only. Is it the same for IR Reps doing Union Skills 1 to 3?

No restriction on ir reps
Looking at the course content,HS1 and HS2 are core basic requirements for any HS rep

Should be no limit on the H&S courses reps can take.
