Angard Causual Flexible Resource - From Angard Interview

Hi Friends

Am new to this forum,had Registered with Royal mail and cleared the online test,got an interview for Causal Flexible Resource from Angard Agency,pl can any one confirm the Christmas casual job and this Angard both are same,I would like make some money in the Christmas casual work for my family,if i attend this interview and signed ,can i get Christmas casual job,please can any one clarify this for me.

Last Christmas, casuals were employed by Royal Mail and not Angard. If you are on Angard's book as a casual, then I highly doubt that you could apply for the Christmas casual jobs with Royal Mail too. As an Angard casual, you should be getting plenty of shifts in December. If you start soon and work at least 1 shift a week for 12 weeks before December then you will be on the higher rate of pay for Christmas work with Angard, so why would you want to work for minimum wage as a Christmas casual?

Formally they're two different roles since one is seasonal. Last winter some Angard casuals were posting here about the lack of shifts they were being offered.
Royal Mail were recruiting Christmas casual staff directly, cutting out agencies who were failing to cope in previous years.
As if to add further to their woes, Angard had asked their 'casual flexible resources' not to apply direct to Royal Mail for the seasonal work!

I'll be having interview booked for 14th Aug,I have kid...if i get shift in day time (9.30 - 2.30) ,I can work...don't know how it goes......like Goofyhumor said if i can apply for RM for christmas also it'll be nice,but I have read in forums Angard is not paying properly,lack of shifts and confusions....any idea about this.

Hi Vishnu,

I don't know which mail centre that you are applying for, but where I work I am sorry to say that there are not many daytime shifts that come up. Occasionally we get a few 10-2 or 9-2 in day and some 12-6 in afternoon but not a lot. Most shifts are 6-10 evening or night shifts. 10 or 12 hour shifts are available on Saturdays for some. It may be different where you are applying though.

I've always been paid on time and for the correct hours. As I work Saturdays, and sometimes Sundays when required, up until last 3 weeks I had been getting 30-40 hours most weeks, but last 3 weeks it has been less as Angard have taken on too many casuals at our mail centre for this quiet time of year.

As for Christmas, I really don't know for sure, but I doubt you can apply to work for Royal Mail as a casual if you are already on Angard's book as a casual but I can't confirm that for sure.

Thanks for your reply,I 'll be attending the interview Swindon (Whiltshire),i am looking for weekend or evening shifts,because my daughter will be attending school from
sep 9am to 3 ,if get shift between this timings it'll be helpful for me,else i have to go for week ends,do you have any idea when the time of interview can I ask about shift timing and my convenient timings,i have to get this job,thanks for your reply....like you said I can apply for Christmas also ....if i get suitable shifts to my kids school timings i can make some money...hope so.

You can ask at the interview what shifts are normally available at the mail centre where you are applying, but this will not be definitive. I'm guessing the 6-10 evening shifts are the most readily available at all mail centres as this is the busiest time of day.

WRONG! Read the following carefully:

Tried, trained and tested angardees will NOT GET THE WORK! Once you are on a higher rate, surprise, surprise the number of shifts offered to you DROPS DRASTICALLY!!!!!!!! RM and Angard wll always "blame" each other but lack honesty. You are seen as too expensive that is why cheap Christmas casuals are always sought at circa £6.50/hour! Totally hypocritical of them. AT many mail centres nepotism Rules! Cynical cost saving and exploitatiom.
