on average 1 shift per fortnight and they say its the quiet time of the year? maybe it is, then if its so quiet why have I just received a letter posted in CF14 and I live in CF34 has it taken 8 days to arrive, a total distance of about 30 miles. I could have walked there on crutches and back faster and royal mail wonder why they are losing customers . great job when you can get some but some of the managers cause more problems then there worth . definatley a lot of brown nosing going on time for a big shake up

You know where its been mate. At the bottom of a mail sack, or mini york, tucked in the corner. As to any point in Angard, well no not while they over staff 300% and don't allow the Royal Mail managers to pick who they want in, no.

This is wrong. The managers can get in touch with you themselves and ask you to come in. That's the only way I ever got work through Angard and I had significantly more than most. Speak to some of the lino's and make sure they have your phone number. That way they can call you in on mornings when, for example, a postie has called in sick.

Actually Joe you are wrong and dazg is correct the manager who is calling you is breaking the rules although managers do call people last minute if they are desperate. The majority of shifts should come through Angard and they should decide who is asked to work which should mean work is handed out fairly. The downside is of course Royal Mail often get stuck with someone who is hopeless and is of no use to them in an ideal world Royal Mail should be able to request the people they want and the useless casuals ( of which there are many) would just drift away but that is unlikely to happen anytime soon. You may find that Angard will put a stop to managers calling you direct and your shifts will decrease.

Fair enough, thought I recalled reading that managers could instigate a work period personally. That's how it always was for me anyway. Literally the only 2 occasions I heard from Angard I was already in work at the DO. I believe they have ceased using Angard staff now anyway and offered out a few PT fixed term contracts instead
