dog attack on drive way/street

hi, ive been biten on my Saturday round. as ive walked up to the drive about to approach the gate the aggressive dog has smashed through the gate like a bat outa hell jumped up at me and bit me hard on the arm, blood pouring from it, and has then gone running down the road and hassling a dog being walked on the lead, 3 neighbours having a chat in the drives have seen/heard the commotion unfold, dog owner lady very apologetic, and surprised, after I had a few stern words to her, and called my manager up and delivered rest of my bundle, this dog has (as a new starter, biten me hard once before hard on my arm, no blood as I was triple layered up, but it really hurt,) I've also had it run out and has been very aggressive and growling at my feet as when i had a package for them, the little girl opened the door with out restraining the dog first, the neighbour then came out from her house and explained the people shouldn't own dogs as its rented accomadation, and also her daughter is petrified of dogs, the owner is friends with the regular postie and tells me it barks at her but nothing more, im a dog lover and and have had them most of my life as pets, (golden retrievers) but its the 2nd time ive been biten by this horrid dog, my main concern is that I am worried for my fellow office workers as there are a few much shorter girls that, had this happened to them could have been a lot worse (im lucky im fairly average build and protected my self quickly.) ive taken pictures of the bite marks, the house, where it happened, explained to my stand in manager, etc etc
going to take tomorrow morning off, atleast (Monday) where I usually go to do overtime so I can get it checked out, have necessary jabs etc, if this dog now sees red as a threat who knows what would happen if a child gets attacked by this dog,
my question is, what is the next step?

Are you CERTAIN that you have been properly trained.

But certainly inform police and if injured take a photo and Google DWP industrial injury
Tell your rep and fill out Erica,all offices are different, you may be lucky and not have management try and sweep it under the carpet

The manager will contact the resident and should now suspend deliveries until a solution is reached where no-one is in danger.

For you see the H&S rep and get a claim form - they should walk you through it. You will be able to claim for lost wages especially if you have not yet reached the 12month service point yet.

The only concern I have though is on the previous attack did you inform the manager, if so no problem. If not then it may cause problems down the road and I would be guided by the Union in any discussions with the managers.

1) I unfortunately didn't have a chance , it heard the neighbours gate close and was already over the gate as I approached, (property letterbox is side on to the house, with door half open) it was unavoidable really, it wasn't like I was squeezing his favourite squeaky toy... it wanted me!
2)ERICA will be completed either, tomorrow morning via another office I work overtime in, so gets done quicker than completing it at 30 mins away in my Saturday office, as im popping in seeing about a contract there, before heading to walk in centre about a tetanus jab etc,, or il pop over there tomorrow,
3) no dog warning card on frame,
4) royal mail guidance on dogs? I understand the obvious 'hold bag between you and dog' ' don't aggravate dogs on property' etc... but, a vicious dog escaping out of the house, side on from the drive, leaping over an average size gate and leaping up at you with big teeth doesn't leave you much time to do that in reality, luckily I put my arms up quick and got me near the elbow, (had it gone for my goolies id be in a lot of trouble right now, ! )then running down a public road where kids are playing Frisbee?! harassing another dog on the lead, ! I guess im fortunate it only got me there and cause a smallish puncture wound, It could have easily been a lot worse,
5) police,? il have a word with my manager and see whats what?

oh and also, she did say that they would put a box on the drive way, that's all well and good but I got attacked out side the gate !

There's a chance you'll get beaten with the safety stick
But as a new starter you should be fine

Hate to say it but at our do safety is used punitively
I.e always the Postie's fault

I got laughed at by a manager when I reported an attack by a guide dog
Had a word in his shell like

I would report it to the police though
I'm not saying owner could be trying to smooth you so you don't report it
But folk can be more protective of their dogs than their kids

What if a kid gets attacked and RUns into a car?

It has and can happen.
