Royal Mail is proposing a final dividend for 2013-14 of 13.3 pence per share for shareholders on the register on 4 July 2014.
Today, 2 July 2014, is our ex-dividend date is. This is the first day anyone could purchase a Royal Mail share and not receive the final dividend payment for 2013-14.
Why is the ex-dividend date important?
Typically, a company’s share price will start trading at a lower price on its ex-dividend date. All other things being equal, the difference in the share price is normally approximately the value of the dividend payment. This is because anyone buying the shares from that point would not receive that dividend payment.
Of course, there are many other factors that could also impact a company’s share price. It is ultimately decided by the stock market. The share price reflects the market’s view of the business, its prospects and general market conditions.
Royal Mail share price
You can see the Royal Mail share price every day the stock market is open. You can see it on http://www.myroyalmail.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;, http://www.royalmailgroup.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;, on screens in your workplace and in most newspapers.
On the group’s websites, the share price will update every 15 minutes when the stock market is open and will show the closing price of the previous trading day when the stock market is closed. It will not reflect the current market price and should not be used to make any investment decisions.
Dividend payment
Subject to shareholder approval, Royal Mail’s final dividend for 2013-14 will be paid on 31 July 2014.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Sorry but this is not really a News Item - more of a question, which has been asked and answered in the Shares section. So on that basis merged it into one of those threads

Don't expect a dividend next year. Unless more posties at mail centres are paid off along with managers and more part time posties on walks. Then slim chance. But don't expect directors etc. wages to drop only fat successful bonus for them.

Yep. RBS £60 down to 1.55 before being suspended. RM cannot sink too far as the assets in land and property and goodwill are worth equal or in excess of the share value at issue 3.35. It's all the negativity being spouted concerning OFCOM /TNT/USO/ and e-mail etc. by Moya as part of her constant attempts to force the price down in order to lobby MP's to support quick action regarding unfair competition. She's basically saying "If you think this bad, see what will happen if you DON'T do something in the near future..."
