InPost, the global operator of a 24/7 parcel locker network, has installed its own independent automated parcel lockers at Victoria Coach Station, one of the busiest transport hubs in the UK.
Following the successful first installation of lockers at London Underground station, Buckhurst Hill in May, Victoria Coach Station is a big step forward for InPost, which is looking to install lockers at approximately 40 further Transport for London sites over the next few months.
Matt Rogers, director of delivery solutions at ASOS.com, said: “We’re delighted to see InPost securing locations such as Victoria Coach Station. We are working with InPost to integrate these locations into our checkout to offer our customers a wider choice of collection points. We look forward to developing our click and collect offer with InPost and hope to be able to offer these services later this summer.”
Michelle De Pasquale, commercial director at InPost, comments: “InPost is the perfect partner for busy commuters. Our lockers offer our customers convenience and Victoria Coach Station is a fantastic site for the thousands of commuters that pass through the station each day. People don’t want to wait in all day for their parcel to arrive; and now, with our ever growing network, they don’t have to.”
The lockers are all installed in well-lit locations and are constantly monitored by live CCTV cameras. Customers are able to place orders online from a range of different retailers which they can then collect safely and securely from a local site, at a time that suits them.
Graeme Craig, director of commercial development at TfL, said: “It’s fantastic that InPost has launched its latest parcel lockers in our network at Victoria Coach Station, making it easier for customers to order an item online and then collect it as they travel on the network. We are increasingly working with a range of world-class retailers to provide the goods and services that our customers want, generating revenues for us to reinvest back into our transport network.”
Since launching in April 2013, InPost has seen rapid growth and is the largest network of its kind in the UK. InPost now boasts close to 1,000 collection points across the UK and this rapid expansion is set to continue with the company intending to open in excess of 2,000 sites in the UK by the end of 2015.
InPost recently signed a partnership agreement with Morrisons Supermarket, which will see locker terminals placed at a number of sites across the UK.

Why does Royal mail never come up with these ideas???
You can click and collect at your local shop and now at the station and soon the supermarket.
Yes we have click and collect at the post office but most of those are being shut down
We are always playing catch up it seems

What disappoints me most of all, aside from the lack of cutting edge innovation, is that even when playing catch up RM are so slow to react .... on the continent postal lockers have been used for some time. Parcels are THE future for carriers and if you lose market share in this sector you will ultimately fail no matter how robust your logistical network. Think back to last year and RM couldn't even judge the market well enough to get the pricing of packets correct .. it beggars belief.GoingRoundTheBend wrote:Why does Royal mail never come up with these ideas???
