GPO postman commits suicide due to workload, forced transfer

A postman of General Post Office (GPO) Lahore committed suicide upon his forced transfer and increased work load, a private news channel reported.

36-year-old Shahid Ameen sent his children to school on Friday early morning and then killed himself at his home.

GPO employees went on a strike following Ameen’s suicide.

Talking to media reported, Ameen’s colleagues said that he had been in stress due to workload which had increased when a senior officer transferred him to another area from Badami Bagh.

The GPO employees chanted slogans against the officer who ordered Ameen’s transfer and demanded that the postmen be provided better facilities.
