Surely if you have a day off you don't have to come in unless you want to, so please explain why it was "stolen"?Speedmeister wrote:Another day off stolen from me by this bunch of disorganised shower of clowns and to cap it all had to do absorbing.

Re: The "How was your day" thread.
Basically I'm harassed into going in - they asked me Wednesday if I could work my day off so I said no, then Friday they ask me again & because I'm on rurals they say 'there's no-one else to do it''. I do a rural cover duty with Saturday as the day off & agreed with the line manager to do an SA duty every other Saturday (this is a part-time 6hr 20min SA duty - although last Saturday I was moved off this onto a FT duty - I claimed the overtime for doing it). I worked my last Saturday off as well - more harassment! There are other rural duties with Saturday off & they always seem to get it, also the people I cover for always have their day off. I'm on a 30 hour permanent contract and claim 1 hr 48 min OT each day for doing this - I started doing this cover duty at the beginning of this year.wabbithunta wrote:Surely if you have a day off you don't have to come in unless you want to, so please explain why it was "stolen"?Speedmeister wrote:Another day off stolen from me by this bunch of disorganised shower of clowns and to cap it all had to do absorbing.

Guess today was the start of catchup from all the non-urgent mail not put through last week? Odd cut-off procedure request by lino for those not completing.

I assume you are in the Union? If so go see your Union rep about this. You got enough here to complain about. I assume you are still getting your days off on the correct days, that is if you are not working o/t? They appear, from what you are saying, using you to help saving them from failed deliveries and also it means that they won't have to go out to do the deliveries instead. Don't let the bully and harass you into doing more than you can do in a normal workday. It's not your problem if they don't have enough people to cover deliveries. Take your long weekends off, I know you may need the hours/money but they are taking the piss by doing this.Speedmeister wrote:Basically I'm harassed into going in - they asked me Wednesday if I could work my day off so I said no, then Friday they ask me again & because I'm on rurals they say 'there's no-one else to do it''. Re: The "How was your day" thread.
I'm in the union - the duty I do is meant to have every Saturday off but I agreed I'd do a part-time SA duty on every other Saturday. The duty is to cover other people's days off on rurals. I'm quite regularly doing OT during the week so although the extra money is nice to have I don't want to be working every Saturday when it's meant to be my day off. I'm on a 30 hour contract and do a full-time duty every day - so I claim the overtime for doing that. We recently had a re-sign at our office and I said I'd be interested in doing a 35 hour rural duty that was available. The union are currently trying to get me on this duty but the DOM is quibbling over having to put my contracted hours up to 35. The stupid thing is they're also trying to save hours in the office - at the moment I'm regularly doing 39 hours and if I do this duty I'd be on 35 - I just don't see the logic in doing this.wabbithunta wrote:I assume you are in the Union?
