Patti-Ann wrote:We have just started the new way of working with some people on walk prep, some as sorters and some as porters. Today was my first day as a porter, which involves emptying pigeon holes for eight deliveries and taking it round for them (both letters and large flats). Do a bit of my own walk prep, then clear the pigeon holes again. Do some more prep, then clear the pigeon holes again. I'm supposed to have help doing my prep but at the moment seem to be doing most of it myself. Needless to say, I'm falling behind everyone else :mad

Then after I got home I was talking to my set mate on the phone (we job share, it's her week off) and she says we are supposed to drag eight packet bags round as well :mad I wonder when I'll find time to put door to doors together next week
The porter system lasted a grand total of 2 days at my office. Just too small to really carry it. The double prep v ips method lasted about 3 months until the ips was still not completed by 9am. We have now resorted to the old method of most people on the ips to clear asap. Trouble is that we removed a lot of the ips frames so its now pretty cramped. So much for the new way of working. :arrrghhh
Rows of houses all bearing down on me........I can feel their blue hands touching me.......All these things in all positions.........All these things will one day take control..........

Quieter than usual for a Friday. Even the packets were down. Rained on and off all day.

Here we go again, "can't claim overtime on Mondays and Tuesdays now for the summer, but can you flex for an earlier finish in the week?" Sure boss, because the overall workload is bound to be lower on Weds/Thurs/Fri/Sat. :chuckle

Pretty busy today, had to reprep a days worth of D2Ds which had been prepped wrongly  (I'm supposed to arrive to a fully prepped frame...) Ended up getting out at half 10, eventually getting finished and signed out and off home by 3:45

I just knew today would be bad, 2 quiet days before the storm hits

We left 36 packets in the end. We are told 3 minutes a parcel (not including driving from one to the next) so that is 1hr and 48mins left on top of the 1200 drop delivery, tracked, firms, farms and specials

Roll on tomorrow, more of the same :dance

Another day of misprepped D2Ds "delivering tomorrows D2Ds today!" :d'oh! Hopefully whoever is prepping my frame will have it sorted out...
A very heavy day too, out by half 10, back by 4.

Update

I am still portering, but letter/large flat sorting too (now on the same frame). When the pigeon holes are filling up, I clear them down, then back onto sorting. Meanwhile my prep is done for me. One man preps his two walks plus one of mine. Another preps his walks plus my other one. When the sorting is all done, I clear down for the last time then take over on the walk prep.

I'm now on my week off - go back Thursday for three days, then on two weeks holiday :nana
