Having got the RMPP book today I am just as confused as before.
On the example for the section C benefits they use a person aged 40 in 2014 who has 20 years service. But why do people who have 20 years service but are aged 50 or 60 in 2014 get so much less pension? In my example I am 56 and started 26 years ago and in addition to my pension contributions I also have added years to bring it up to a total of 40 years. So what will I get? Not much I expect!!

Re: Pension confusion
The examples assume that you will work for RM until 65, so the 40 year old will build up 45 years of pension while the older people will obviously build up less because they started the job later in life and will have less service.fly-catchers wrote:Having got the RMPP book today I am just as confused as before.

All the booklet does is give a few examples. In practice everyone's individual pension will be different and yours will obviously be more than someone who hasn't bought added years. In my example I am 56 and started 26 years ago and in addition to my pension contributions I also have added years to bring it up to a total of 40 years.
