New postie, needs help!

Post by chris_pea84 »

Hi all, I rece ntly went for and passed an interview for a position, 28hrs a week, 5 weeks on 1 week of. I work full time at the moment and can honestly say I hate my job and really want to be a postie! Need some advice really on whether or not to leave full time work? Will there be any overtime? Will I get paid weekly, any advice would be appreciated

At the moment we are paid weekly. But that could change.

There may be overtime - its not guaranteed though. However there is usually plenty available.

As to, should you quit a FT permanent job, for a temporary contract of roughly £10 an hour (after 1 years probation), only you can make that decision.

Thank you for your reply I'm just worried about the 3 month temp contract. Does that mean they will get rid of me after 3 months? Nothing has been explained to me and I'm pretty confused about the whole thing.

Three month contracts are how RM works. I am on my fifth at the moment, others at my DO have been on them for longer than that. But no one can say anything for certain.
