NEW POSTIE, BUT NEW TO AREA

Post by Si9975 »

Hi I recently moved to the other side of the country 3 months ago... And applied to be a postie. Woo hoo I got the job today :0)
But I'm worried as the office I will be working at is a couple miles from where I live.... And as recently moving here I have pretty much no knowledge of the area, is it hard to pick up the area and routes ?

1. One street looks pretty much like another.
2. The mail should follow a sensible sequence so if you get to the end of white street then brown street shouldn't be far away.
3. You will probably have a partner/coach.
4. You should have a training period.
5. If all else fail stop and consult a map (paper or app).
6. Beware dodgy numbering systems(1,2,3,147b,5,6)/house names.
7. Never guess...better to bring it back than shove it through the wrong door.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share
