years needed for full pension

just wondered if anyone knows if there is a maximum amount of years needed to get the maximum/full pension?
if so do stop contributing nearer retirement?

It used to be that the maximum pension related to 2/3 of your final salary but with rule changes and the final salary scheme closing and being replaced by the career average version and the defined contribution for new starters after April 2008, I'm not sure there is such thing as a maximum pension these days.
But you are not allowed to pay in for more than 45 years or after your 75th birthday, assuming you're in sections A, B or C.
